The workshop consisted of two major sessions. The first session discussed why data transparency is important to achieve Indonesia’s climate goals. And the second session discussed the private sector contribution towards ambitious climate goals. On the former, WRI Indonesia in collaboration with the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC) Japan is supporting the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) in building one gate reporting platform for the emission data in Indonesia. This synergised platform is expected to lead to robust and reliable emission data that can be responsible base for decision making in the mitigation and adaptation of climate change in Indonesia.
On the contribution of private sector towards ambitious climate goals, three resource persons shared their experiences. Pratima Divgi, Hongkong and Southeast Asia CDP Director shared CSD as international platform to enhance climate reporting data system. Oepoyo Prakoso, Sustainability Manager of PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia shared the company efforts in climate action in cement sector. The IBCSD Program Manager and External Engagement, Aloysius Wiratmo, shared current concrete initiatives of IBCSD member companies in Climate Action (SDG 13). For example, PT RAPP has initiative on measuring green gas emissions; PT Garuda Indonesia on piloting carbon trading; PT Vale on modern plant nursery and ebony conservation program; ERM on science-based targets initiative and PT APP Sinar Mas on the empowerment of community-based waste management.
