Food Loss and Waste

There has been increasing awareness and commitment on food loss and waste problems in Indonesia. A number of initiatives to tackle these problems are also arising. IBCSD involved in the Indonesia Food Loss and Waste Action Partnership in 2018-2019.

In collaboration with WRAP, WBCSD and WRI and funding from P4G, IBCSD engaged the business sector in reducing the food loss and waste on the production process. One of the achievements was the development of food loss and waste action plans with three companies in the dairy, palm oil and input industries. Built on this initiative, IBCSD in collaboration with WRAP with funding from P4G Funding to establish a food waste Voluntary Agreement, namely GRASP 2030 (Gotong Royong Atasi Susut & Limbah Pangan di 2030), starting from 2021. The intention is to recruit the most significant and impactful businesses in Indonesia to the voluntary agreement, securing commitment to food waste action and stakeholder collaboration across the value chain.
