Forestry Forum

The Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) in collaboration with the Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit (SPOTT) has facilitated a Business Forum on Forestry Transparency in Indonesia since 2019. This collaboration focuses on providing practical guidance to Indonesian forest management organisations on how to improve and communicate environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments and progress to investors and buyers.

SPOTT is an online ESG platform (www.spott.org) supporting sustainable commodity production and trade. SPOTT is managed by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and works with timber, palm oil and rubber producers around the world. The SPOTT Forum on Forestry Transparency provides a platform for key forestry sector stakeholders to: discuss the benefits and challenges associated with greater forestry sector transparency; consider how higher levels of transparency can support improvements to SVLK (sistem verifikasi legalitas kayu); increase understanding of the ZSL SPOTT initiative, including its purpose & assessment criteria; learn practical steps to increasing transparency and increasing SPOTT scores for assessed companies and discuss what ESG goals investors and buyers will be focusing every year.
