Tasks and responsibilities:

Working alongside TFA-SEA communication team lead by Janne Siregar you will be responsible for:

  • Event management support for large-scale public events including the campaign launch and culminating activities
  • Ideas generation for event theme and associated elements
  • Organize and execute the logistical requirements for a successful South Asia regional event
  • Ensure that all the required administrative tasks and logistics associated with the conference are carried out successfully.
  • Manage a small team to this end.
  • Prepare a budget and monitor expenditures in respect of the conference.
  • Liaise with the Steering Group and the Representative in respect of the substantive content of the conference.
  • Liaise with TFA Global regarding the South Asian Regional Event in respect of how it will contribute to the global event.
  • Liaise with relevant Government counterpart officials, agencies, donors, civil society and private sector partners for the purpose of organizing and partnering for conference.
  • Provide full report on conference after the event concludes.
  • Provide suggested follow-up actions after the conclusion of the conference.
  • Undertake such other relevant duties as assigned by the communication lead representative or her designees.

Media Relations

  • On-going support for all proactive and reactive outreach to mainstream media across print, online, and broadcast

1. Recruitment: TFA Multimedia Content Maker

Objectives:

The overall objective of this consultancy is to produce media material including a short video and high-resolution photographs that can be used in various communications platforms. 

Methodology

Consultant selected for this assignment will perform the following indicative tasks:

  • Develop the video concept and scenario to be discussed with TFA team;
  • Present a work plan for the assigned work specifying logistic needs;
  • Perform appropriate short interviews with the Projects’ major partners, beneficiaries and stakeholders;
  • Work on the desired products for this consultancy, including high resolution photographs and videos.

Deliverables

The consultant will produce a database with at least forty-five (45) high resolution photographs and one (1) short video.

  • One short video in HD
  1. Video shooting and editing;
  2. Narration, translation and subtitles in English/Portuguese where necessary;
  3. Script development;
  4. Full usage rights for music (or music for which copyright has been granted);
  5. One fully-produced clip of approximately 5 minutes in length in 1080p (HD) resolution aimed at sharing with national audience including government institutions, CSOs, local stakeholders, local communities as well as an international audience.

The video must highlight purpose and goal of the Youth Program, including: interviews with youth that representative, document progress of reducing deforestation, importance of forest and land for the future, showcase biodiversity linked to forest ecosystem, economic value of forest, interview with related stake-holders and TFA Members. The video must showcase success stories and lessons learnt related to forest ecosystem for the future.

  • High Resolution Photograph
  1. At least 45 high quality and high resolution, edited and captioned pictures delivered on CD.
  2. Photographs should include:
    Landscape ·       Aerial view of forest and land

    ·       Landscape from Palm Oil

    Reforestation and Protection ·       Images to demonstrate forest conservation status (deforestation and reforestation including natural and/or artificial reforestation)

  • Written impact stories

  • Report

A detailed report on all photography and filming locations (GPS points), including names and contact details of all individuals photographed or that will appear on film. The report must include at least 5 powerful statements by youth community members and other stakeholders to be used in reports and fact sheets.

Timing

This consultancy will entail up to 9 days of field work, including travelling, and 7 days of editing and reporting, beginning upon the signature of contract with TFA-SEA. All travel and accommodation will be covered by the consultant.

TFA will provide logistical support including arranging flights & accommodation (if needed), digital interview link, and introduction to a youth representative and related stakeholders (Govt., CSO, Private, etc.)

Consultant for Tropical Forest Alliance Southeast Asia

“”BACKGROUND

The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) is a global multi stakeholder platform focused on reducing commodity driven deforestation. Hosted by the World Economic Forum, the TFA works with over 160 public, private and civil society actors to catalyze high-impact partnerships to address the inherent tensions that exist to grow production while protecting the forests – public and private, producer and market, global and local, people and the forest frontier.  The TFA operates regional platforms in Latin America, West and Central Africa, China and Southeast Asia. The work under this consultancy will be performed in collaboration with the Southeast Asia platform.  

SERVICES PROVIDED

The consultant will work closely with TFA Southeast Asia Team and its members and partners (Government of Indonesia, business sectors and civil societies) and will undertake the following tasks:

  • Consult with TFA SA in the process of developing the concept note and draft of proposal.  
  • Develop proposals that indicated an overview of the study includes: background, methodological framework, objectives, indicative timelines & deliverable and budget.
  • Participate in the meetings/dialogue that TFA convened with its stakeholders to identify topics/issues to be covered for business case/policy briefs
  • Review existing documents covering studies, reports, regulations, rules and other documents, related to respected theme: responsible business, indigenous communities, green investments, smallholders, policy and governance systems in Indonesia and Malaysia.
  • Write a report on the review of the implementation of two decades of fiscal decentralization in Indonesia, including providing concrete policy recommendations on improving fiscal decentralization and local government finance in Indonesia
  • Present the findings from the business cases/policy briefs to the stakeholders should that be requested by the TFA Southeast Asia team.

DELIVERABLES

  • Identifying one thematic area of interest and provide TFA SA with : 1) Draft of Terms of Reference (ToR)— outlining: context/background, objective, methodology, scope of works, timeline and deliverables —- and 2) Draft proposal of work plan.
  • Draft of business case/policy briefs and other required documents
  • Final business cases/policy briefs and other required documents
  • All deliverables must be prepared in reporting format that must be agreed by TFA SA team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive working experience and knowledge in the issues  of responsible business, green investment, policy and governance, communication, indigenous community, smallholders and communication and youth engagement.
  • Strong background in Public policy in Indonesia and have extensive experiences working with Government of Indonesia with Coordinating Ministry and Technical Ministry. 
  • Strong analytical, reporting and writing abilities
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both written and oral. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from nationally/internationally recognized university in Public Administration, Public Policy, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Governance or Social Science field. 
  • At least 10 years’ experience of working in the sectors of green investment, supply chain systems and actively engage with private sectors (brands, growers, traders) and community’s engagements (in indigenous communities, youth engagement, smallholders).
  • At least 10 years’ experience of undertaking policy studies and write business cases on the issues highlighted in the areas of responsible business, green investment, policy and governance, indigenous community, communication & galvanizing youth and smallholders.
  • Prior work experience with Government of Indonesia in the national level, particularly with Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), National Development Planning Agency, Coordinating Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Work experience in development agency and research institution.

Educational Media and Design Consultant

The Conflict Resolution Unit of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development in cooperation with the LEOPALD project of GIZ is currently developing a series of educational materials (a toolkit) for stakeholders in oil palm plantations. These materials are expected to support initiatives to develop equitable partnerships between farmers and corporations and/or resolving conflicts among them.

 

Key stakeholders have been identified as a segmented audience, namely plantation corporations, communities, local governments, NGOs working with those communities, and mediators who might mediate conflicts in the plantation sector. For each of these specific learning materials will be developed. It is expected that these learning materials will support the efforts to build sustainable and fair partnerships and conflict resolution processes.

 

To support this initiative, CRU is seeking an expert in learning materials development to bring his/her perspectives and insights to the efforts as a consultant.

 

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

 

Ensure that the materials produced are educationally appropriate to each audience segment both in design and content.

 

Tasks

 

  • Advice authors and or content specialists in developing the text/content for the learning materials

 

  • Assist in the sequencing and presentation of the educational content in the appropriate format to facilitate optimal learning.

 

  • Prepare appropriate format for the presentation or design for the materials.

 

  • Prepare pre-testing methodology and instruments and carry out field testing of the materials in coordination with authors and or content specialist.

 

  • Edit the final versions of the training materials to ensure optimal comprehension of the intended audience. These tasks will be caried out intermitendly for 35 working days during a period of three months.

The Lead is expected to build and strengthen TFA’s relationships with relevant private sector actors in the region, including producers, traders, manufacturers, and retailers (in particular, members of the Consumer Goods Forum), financial institutions, as well as industry groups and trade associations with the objective of driving engagement with the TFA platform and catalyzing collective action to tackle commodity-driven deforestation. Specifically, the position’s responsibilities include:

  • Mobilizing a deeply-engaged coalition of private sector actors in the region
  • Strategic engagement with IBCSD/KADIN to strengthen TFA as a platform
  • Identifying and engage key private sector champions in the region who can build further support for our collective agenda
  • Anticipating key strategic questions and trends affecting TFA in Southeast Asia, evaluating them and driving proactive decision-making to adapt organizational goals

  • Responsible in the membership recruitment process, marketing and all administrative & correspondence matters for the new and existing IBCSD Member.
