Welcoming PT HERO SUPERMARKET TBK

As from this January, PT Hero Supermarket Tbk., one of the largest retail company in Indonesia, has officially joined Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD).

PT Hero Supermarket, Tbk. (HERO) is a Indonesia-based company primarily engaged in the operation of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) modern retailers, led by Ipung Kurnia as the president commisioner. It operates chains of hypermarkets, supermarkets, health and beauty care stores: they are operated under the brand names Giant Extra, Hero Supermarket, and Giant Express, and Guardian respectively. The company also holds the franchise license to operate IKEA, a home furnishing retailer chain in Indonesia. Basic principles of HERO are Consumers, Innovation, People, Teamwork, Integrity and Sustainable Result.

In 2017, HERO achieved the Most Values Brand award. HERO also held a certification from The 9th IICD Corporate Governance Conference and Award as the Top 50 Mid Market Capitalization Public Listed Companies, and also The Best Non Financial Company. Another award that HERO got in 2017 is the Asia’s Best Company 2017 from Finance Asia. In the sustainability area, HERO held a platinum trophy at the 9th Annual Summit and Conference: CSR Leadership Award.

HERO is very concerned about their CSR program. HERO has a program named “HERO CARING” which includes many projects that was designed as a responsibility for the society, focusing on education, community health, economic empowerment, environmental awareness, Donation and humanitarian aid. HERO realizes that sustainability is not just about CSR. Therefor, together with IBCSD, HERO now has an aim to reach a better knowledge about sustainability, and also improving their programs.
