Circularity is a relatively new concept that disrupts “business as usual”. The unsustainability and limitations of the existing linear model are evident and similar around the world. Circular economy is part of strategic program areas that IBCSD has been promoting among business sector. One of pathways to translate the sustainability on the ground is by strengthening business leadership and action in circular economy. IBCSD has been enabling circular economy ecosystem among business sector through various initiatives.
For example, the IBCSD supports the collaboration of UNDP and Bappenas in developing national strategy for circular economy by engaging IBCSD members and partners for the study on economic, social and environmental impact of circular economy in Indonesia. Currently, IBCSD together Malaysia Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) is proposing project on Circular Economy Platform for Indonesia and Malaysia (CEPIM) in collaboration with BCSD Turkey and TKI CLICKNL that have developed similar initiative previously.
